Motorola Droid: Loose Battery Cover Door

Several folks have been reporting problems with the battery cover door on the Motorola Droid either sliding out of place or coming completely off the back of the phone...  This is an issue that has been around since the release of the Motorola V9M.

To prevent the battery door from slipping out of place try one of the following:

  • Cut out an index card (or similar heavy weight paper) to roughly the same size as the Droid battery.  Place the card over the battery and replace the battery cover door and slide into place.  You should imediately notice significantly more resistance and a snug fit of the battery cover door.
  • Cut out several sheets of paper (approx 20lb copy paper) to roughly the same size as the Droid battery.  Start by placing one thickness of paper over the battery and replace the battery cover door and slide into place.  If you still notice looseness, or if the battery cover door continues to slide out of place try adding an additional paper thickness.  Repeat as necessary until you notice significant resistance when securing the latch and a snug fit of the battery door cover.
