ESRB - Video game ratings explained - There's an app for that!

The Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) ratings of video games is helpful, but may leave out key information that would be helpful in deciding if junior should be playing the game he's begging you to get at the store...  Luckily, there's an app for that!

While many of us are already aware of the ESRB ratings placed on video games and attempt to use them in making wise decisions regarding the games our children play, it is often difficult to understand what went into the decision behind a certain rating... Well now, there's an app for your smartphone that can help...

Search for the "ESRB" application using your Android-enabled phone or an iPhone.

Once you have the application, simply take a picture of the video game while your at the store to pull up the associated ESRB content.  For video games rated after July 1, 2008, you'll be provided a detailed description of why a particular rating was assigned to the game.

I Agree

Kids can be 6 and play M rated games, like Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty and Halo. Just so sad. Good thing they made ratings. Now I read ratings when I see a video game, even though I'm only 10.
